Broken links

We browse your site the way a visitor would, page by page, and check every link and image. You get the list of those that no longer lead anywhere, and the pages where they appear.

Up to 100 pages and 600 checks. It takes from a few seconds to a few minutes: you can leave this page open.

Why it matters

A broken link is a dead end for your visitors, and a sign of neglect for Google. They pile up quietly: a partner changes its site, a page gets renamed, an image is deleted from the media library.

How to fix them

  1. Start with your own pagesA renamed page? Update the link, or add a redirect from the old address to the new one.
  2. Then links to other sitesLook for the new address of the page; failing that, remove the link or point to the site's home page.
  3. Missing imagesUpload the image again, or remove it from the page.

Questions

Why “to check by hand”?

Some sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, pages behind a login) refuse any automated visit. The link probably works; open it to be sure.

Do you respect my robots.txt?

Yes: pages it forbids are not visited. We identify ourselves as PhysalisDesign-Outils.
